Plowshares Plans Move of Headquarters to Waconia By Keith Anderson, Editor

Plans for a SuperTarget could easily dwarf every other retail project in Waconia, but not when the developer of the city’s largest project announces plans to move its headquarters here.

Plowshares Development, which owns nearly 500 acres of land that is being developed for retail and residential on the south side of Waconia, stretching from Highway 5 near Main Street Extension to the east edge of the Sierra housing development, recently announced it is locating its headquarters in the same project area that has gained so much attention in the last few months.

It plans to build a two-level 15,600 square foot condominium office building in the area that will be identified as Interlaken’s third addition. Just to the west and southwest of this site will be the SuperTarget project.

Plowshares headquarters and office complex will be located on two acres of land that is currently zoned for highway business. The individual business bays (which will be fully finished) will cost anywhere from $230,000-$340,000. There will be up to eight bays available, but according to Plowshares President Todd Simning, if there is a customer who wants more than one bay, that can easily be accommodated. “We’re really excited about the move. It’s such a beautiful area and we obviously have a large investment there,” he said.

Plowshares will utilize 6,500 square feet of the 15,600 square foot building. Simning said nearly 100 percent of Plowshare’s projects in the last several years have occurred in the west metro, especially west of Eden Prairie. “With the new 212 opening, we expect there is going to be even more growth in Waconia.”
