Waconia Gets 500-Acre Project
Target will anchor the retail portion of InterLaken, Plowshares Development's new mixed-use community.
Plowshares Development, a Chanhassen site planning and property development firm, is proceeding with plans for its second large-scale development in Waconia.
InterLaken, a 500-acre master-planned community, will combine several types of housing, in addition to retail and office space. Work on the $450 million project began last year and is expected to continue for the next several years.
Plowshares recently announced that it has signed Target Corp. as an anchor retail tenant. The development's 1,000 housing units will include single-family homes, townhouses and cottages, with prices ranging from $160,000 to $750,000. More than 150 acres will be preserved as open space, including parks and biking and walking trails.
Plowshares also is the developer of Waterford in Waconia, a 523-unit master-planned community about a mile from InterLaken. The firm also has developments in Chanhassen, Burnsville, Victoria, Carver and Buffalo.
